WHAT IS LAMRIM?
Lamrim or Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, is a treatise containing the teachings of Sakyamuni Buddha arranged systematically and presented in a structured manner so that it is easy to practice to guide everyone to perfect enlightenment. Lamrim extracts all Buddhism without discriminating the flow and categorizing it into sequential topics that can guide the Dharma practice from beginning to end.
The Lamrim tradition initiated by His Excellency Guru Atisha Dipamkara Srijnana is a spiritual tradition that preserves Sakyamuni Buddha's teachings through an unbroken lineage of Golden Gospels from the great Teachers of ancient times to the present day. This tradition also has a very strong historical connection with Indonesia because the Sriwijaya Empire in Palembang, South Sumatra, is where Atisha Guru (around the 11th century) lived and studied for 12 years with Her Roar Guru, Swarnadwipa Dharmakirti, before Her to Tibet and composed a masterpiece which came to be known as Lamrim's first book, "Pelita the Path to Enlightenment" (Sanskrit: Bodhipathapradipa).
