For World Immunisation Week: Tell World Leaders To Protect Every Child

Dear susanto,
Right now, we’re seeing what a world without one vaccine looks like as we struggle to contain coronavirus.
But what if you lived in a world where no vaccines were available — ever?
This is the reality for infants like Konan in the Côte d'Ivoire, where thousands of kids miss out on the basic vaccines needed to reach their fifth birthday. COVID-19 is putting more strain than ever on healthcare services, leaving millions more kids at risk.
Today, Global Citizens have done something huge to change that. Our movement has taken 344,000 actions calling on governments to protect the world’s most vulnerable children during COVID-19 and beyond. And today the UK heard our call — announcing it will support Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to immunise 75 million children facing extreme poverty with life-saving vaccines.
But we’re not done yet. Today you can make a difference too by calling on more world leaders to step up. susanto, by tweeting leaders directly, your voice could have a real impact.
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, exists to ensure live-saving vaccinations reach everyone by working across the world’s poorest countries to deliver protection to those most in need.
Gavi is our best chance at making sure children in extreme poverty around the world continue to receive life-saving immunisation. And its global networks mean that, when a COVID-19 vaccine is found, it will be crucial to help deliver the vaccine to all.
For a world with health for all,
Annabelle and the Global Citizen team
