Dear beloved community,
Throughout Ram Dass's life, he wrote many books and gave countless transformative lectures. Five years ago, Ram Dass's dear friend and co-writer Rameshwar Das suggested a new book, a memoir, that would be unlike any other book he had written.
In many ways, Ram Dass lived multiple incarnations in his 88 years on earth: from psychologist Good Boy, to psychedelic pioneer and counter-culture icon, to yogi and spiritual teacher.
What became apparent through hindsight, as Ram Dass entered his final season of life, is that his guru, Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji) had a hand in the unfolding of each step in his journey, even before they met in India in 1967.
That throughline of grace is shared in this new memoir, Being Ram Dass, authored by Ram Dass with Rameshwar Das. In the book, Ram Dass shares his life's odyssey in intimate detail: how he struggled with issues of self-identity and sexuality in his youth, pioneered psychedelic research, and opened the doorways to Eastern spiritual practices.
Populated by a cast of luminaries ranging from Timothy Leary to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Allen Ginsberg to Sharon Salzberg, Aldous Huxley to Alan Watts―this intimate memoir chronicles Ram Dass's experience of the cultural and spiritual transformations that resonate with us to this day, a journey from the mind to the heart, from the ego to the soul.
Readers will encounter many adventures and revelations—each ringing with the potential to awaken the universal, loving connection that links Ram Dass to all of us.
This book is officially released from our friends at Sounds True on January 12th, but I'm delighted to announce that you can pre-order the book starting today.
To add some fun, we also created an immersive, interactive living scrapbook of Ram Dass's life, where you can explore each chapter of the book and see unreleased photos, videos and audio of Ram Dass and his close friends. |
