Front-Row Seat to Landing on Mars
Thrilling footage from our Perseverance rover chronicles major milestones during the final minutes of its entry, descent, and landing on the Red Planet on Feb. 18. Watch as the spacecraft plummeted, parachuted, and rocketed toward the surface of Mars.

Honoring a “Hidden Figure” – Mary W. Jackson, the first African American female engineer at NASA, began her career with the agency in the segregated West Area Computing Unit of our Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The mathematician and aerospace engineer went on to lead programs influencing the hiring and promotion of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers. In 2019, she was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal posthumously.
This week, Acting NASA Administrator Steve Jurczyk led a ceremony officially naming the NASA Headquarters building in Washington in honor of Mary W. Jackson.
Spacewalk Preview – Three crew members from our Expedition 64 will conduct two spacewalks working in pairs Sunday, Feb. 28, and Friday, March 5, to continue upgrades on the International Space Station. Live coverage of the spacewalks will air on NASA TV, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.

Meet Diana Trujillo – When she moved to the U.S. from Colombia, engineer Diana Trujillo didn’t speak English. She paid her way through college by cleaning houses, learned English, and now landed her second spacecraft on the surface of Mars.
On Feb. 18, Diana hosted “Juntos Perseveramos,” our first-ever Spanish-language show for a planetary landing, which gave viewers an overview of the Perseverance mission and highlight the role Hispanic NASA professionals have played in it.
Our Parker Solar Probe captured this stunning view of Venus during its close flyby of the planet in July 2020. The image shows a bright rim around the planet’s edge, thought to be nightglow, and the dark shape of Aphrodite Terra, a highland on Venus' surface.
