The achievement of shamatha is widely regarded in the Buddhist tradition as an indispensable foundation for the cultivation of contemplative insight (vipashyana).

The Shamatha in the Dzogchen Tradition One-Day Online Retreat taking place on Saturday, October 30, will give you a chance to dive into and explore an approach to shamatha that is particularly pertinent for Dzogchen practice, called “settling the mind in its natural state.” Under the expert guidance of teacher B. Alan Wallace you’ll study a section of The Vital Essence of Primordial Consciousness by Tertön Lerab Lingpa (1856–1926), a pithy and essential text included in the book Open Mind.
