TONIGHT: Ram Dass Movie Night, plus a FREE Compassion Download & Valarie Kaur on 'See No Stranger

TONIGHT

Join in for an hour-long Ram Dass movie night livestream featuring his 1987 lecture on Karma Yoga and Sustainability in Social Change.

When: TODAY, Friday, June 26th at 5pm PDT / 8pm EDT

In this 1987 talk from the Threshold Conference in Chicago, IL, Ram Dass explores the importance of Compassion and Sustainability in Social Change, while outlining how Karma Yoga can transmute our awareness away from being the actor, to a more collective understanding of the way of things.

Highlighting how our collective consciousness is much greater than our individual wisdom, he offers the notion that trauma and risk can be used as vehicles to transcend suffering; However if we’re pushing anything away, we cannot truly be free. Through this lens, Ram Dass invites us to keep our hearts open to all of the suffering that exists in the world and to awaken through our humanity, not in spite of it.

'See No Stranger' with Valarie Kaur on the Mindrolling Podcast

How do we love in a time of rage? How do we fix a broken world while not breaking ourselves? Valarie Kaur—renowned Sikh activist, filmmaker, and civil rights lawyer—describes revolutionary love as the call of our time, a radical, joyful practice that extends in three directions: to others, to our opponents, and to ourselves. It enjoins us to see no stranger, but instead to look at others and say, “You are part of me I do not yet know.” Starting from that place of wonder, the world begins to change: It is a practice that can transform a relationship, a community, a culture, even a nation.

There is no doubt that we all face adversity but is it necessary to deny compassion towards ourselves and avoid truth when we are experiencing hardships? It seems that in order to cultivate compassion we have to begin by acting kindly towards ourselves. We have to be able to see and accept the truth for what it is.

In this Dharma Talk from April 2014 Ram Dass, Sharon Salzberg and Raghu Markus have a conversation about being honest and compassionate with ourselves and others in the face of adversity.

When: Wednesday, July 1st at 5:00 pm PDT / 8:00 pm EDT

Understanding exactly how to serve is one of the greatest blessings in life. Yet how do we find the practices and offerings that fully put our love into action? How do we evolve with life and continue to offer our unique dharma and loving service into the world?

This sort of inquiry and introspection has never felt more important than it does as we face the chaos, uncertainty, upheaval, and opportunities we find in 2020. In this live event, we’ll be exploring these questions, offering some musical and devotional practices, and sharing stories and perspectives that invite each of us to deepen our love-in-action, spiritual practice, and compassion.
