Dear Friends,
In
last week’s email, we shared that we are celebrating Tergar
International’s 15th year! In this message, we introduce you to a
special series commemorating this year.
Entitled "Listening Back," this collection of audio recordings
features conversations with individuals who participated in Tergar’s
formative years (2009-2010), sharing a few of their experiences. You can
access these recordings directly on our Tergar Meditation Community
YouTube channel. We will be sharing them weekly for the next few months.

“When
Cort talked about this Mingyur Rinpoche, he would become very animated,
and he actually glowed. He told us, ‘Rinpoche had this dream of
bringing the benefits of Tibetan Buddhist meditation to the United
States, as well as the rest of the Western world.’”
—Mary Marsden
Mary Marsden served for more than 10 years as secretary on the Tergar International Board of Directors.

“We
were so busy, we were all working overtime! I remember there were so
many events that I lost my voice at one point because I was talking so
much in meetings and at events. Yet, there was an excitement that was
powering us! We were doing the very first events for the whole Tergar
community, and in particular, we had a month-long retreat at St. John's
University in northern Minnesota, which was incredibly powerful. There
were people from all over the world there, and it really felt like, in
many ways, that was the birth of the Tergar community. It was one of the
first times you had the global sangha come together to practice and
meditate. It was an incredibly special and inspiring time.”
—Cortland Dahl
Cortland Dahl, co-founder of Tergar International, is the executive director of Tergar International.

The Importance of Community
It
is one thing to be so fortunate as to have a brilliant teacher who
provides brilliant teachings. It is another to integrate the teachings
into an open, receptive community that then provides the container for
the teachings!
The
forthcoming recording acknowledges the significance of community and
its pivotal role within the Tergar Meditation Community. We'll hear from
Tergar Instructors Myoshin Kelley, Tim Olmsted, and Antonia Sumbundu as
they share their insights on the profound importance of community.

We
offer heartfelt appreciation and warm wishes to each of you for your
dedication to our programming, generous support, and efforts at every
level, whether at the community level or in other capacities. You have
made all the difference in sharing the teachings worldwide!
Stay tuned in the months ahead for more special activities celebrating our 15th year. And if you missed our first message, here is the link to download and explore Tergar International Timeline.
In friendship,
